They Say You Can’t Go Home

My parents suffered from Alzheimer's, dementia and memory loss. Since their passing, I have used vintage family photographs to revisit family homes and familiar places in Maine where I was born. I live in the Midwest now, and this is an ongoing journey home to try to rediscover some of those lost memories. In September 2019 I traveled to the Gaspe Peninsula in Quebec, Canada for a vacation and right before I left, I discovered slides from the same trip my parents had made forty years before so I decided to retrace their steps along the way. This project was interrupted by the pandemic but I hope to return to it soon.

An ongoing project
