Etymologically speaking, “origin” denotes “beginning”, “source”, “birth”, “rise” or “start”. Marcus Garvey, a renowned civil rights activist at the turn of the previous century, said “A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.”
Six Images from Vicki's cyanotype portraits series, "What We Leave Behind" will be included in this exhibit. The series honors her aging parents who are both suffering from dementia/Alzheimer's. The life size images were created on cotton fabric before her parents moved into a care facility. The photographs in this show are 20" x 24" archival pigment prints of the original larger images.
